Oven Baked French Toast

8 Slices French Bread
4 eggs
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Mix together all ingredients except bread. Pour mixture into 9”X13” casserole. Place bread in egg mixture to soak for a few minutes. Turn slices over and let stand until all egg mixture is absorbed. You can freeze on a jelly roll pan (which has been foil lined and greased) until firm or for one hour overnight. Then bake as follows: Place frozen slices on Pam sprayed baking sheet. Brush lightly with melted butter, let thaw for about 45 minutes. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10-12 minutes (or until underside browns). Turn slices over, brush lightly with melted butter and bake an additional 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup. Serves 4.
