Holiday Cake
From - Inn to the Woods,
Washington Crossing, PA
- 1 18 ounce package yellow
cake mix
- 1 3/4 ounce package vanilla
pudding and pie filling
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup chopped pecans,
almonds or walnuts
- 1/2 cup hazelnut liqueur
Preheat oven to
325 degrees. Grease and flour 10" tube or 12 cup angel food
cake pan. Sprinkle nuts over bottom of pan. Mix all cake ingredients
together. Pour batter over nuts. Bake 1 hour. Cool. Invert on
serving platter. Prick top with fork or toothpicks.
GLAZE
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup hazelnut liqueur
Prepare glaze: Melt butter
in saucepan. Stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes, stirring
constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in liqueur. Drizzle and smooth
glaze evenly over top and sides of cooled cake.
Decorate with whipped cream.
